When Chelise was doing her Chemo she was doing good but in January she started her radiation. That was so hard!!!! She got so sick! It got so bad that she couldn't even swallow her own saliva. So they hooked her up to an IV to get nourishment down her but she said that she craved the taste of foods. Isn't that interesting? She talked about this one meal that she wanted so BAD! She talked about it constantly. She really wanted Shake and Bake chicken, my mom's spinach salad and her famous poppyseed dressing, Martinelle's sparkling apple juice, and for desseret; confetti white cake with the colored chips frosting. It got kind of humorous because she talked about it all time. I think that it helped her to get through her treatments. I told her that when she came home I would make her the most awesome dinner she had ever had. So one weekend my parents brought her home because they all needed a break. We had a great dinner all together! She was able to eat a little and she just loved the little bites that she got down. I am so glad for the moments that we spend together...

i'm sure she's smilin' down remembering also.
ReplyDeletei'm home now. CALL ME. love ya and miss ya. i mean how long has it been?
My family thinks of her so much, too. While Megan was here for Christmas vacation she remembered some stories about Chelsie and just wanted to talk about her for a while. She loved her and really keeps her a part of her life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special memory that meal will be for all of you and especially the children. This picture is so valuable...
Isn't it weird that the season or a song or a food or a smell triggers the memory and you can't let it go until you have lived through it? You are doing great! Let yourself live the memories and then move on to make memories with the people you love who have been spared. You are a strong woman!
ReplyDeleteI love that song Sarah Beth it made me cry thinking of Chelsie. She will always be a part of you. I'm glad you have so many sweet memories with her.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to make her Dream Meal for her. I bet that was fulfilling for her...but also for you. And no...don't hesitate to write about your sister. I love reading about the tiny details you remember about her and you won't regret having written them down. Thanks for letting us be a part of the memories you have.
